accommodation

The great thing about getting married with us is that you’ve got loads of potential accommodation for your friends and family, meaning that everyone can enjoy a longer or shorter weekend with you, but without the stress of lengthy accommodation lists, complicated taxi arrangements, or drink drive issues in an area with little public transport (ie there isn’t any).

Our tipis are ideal for couples, families, or groups of friends wanting to create that festival feel of celebration and time spent together in the great outdoors. Some couples want to make a real time of it – more like a Middle Eastern wedding where the feasting and festivities go on for several days – others just a couple of nights doing something really different. Whatever size of wedding you’re thinking of our tipi accommodation makes a practical alternative. It doesn’t matter if there’s 12 of you or 200+ - our venue and overall site work just as well for really big or really intimate events. Once you’ve got 100 or more guests and are booking 25 or more tipis, then you get exclusive use of our site (that’s if you’ve booked ahead enough and there aren’t already other bookings confirmed). Exclusive use packages are available for smaller numbers based on specific areas of the venue. The idea is that your guests ring up and book their own accommodation according to how many they are, how long they’d like to book for, what location they’d like within the site etc. Some couples like the idea of actually planning where their friends and family are going to be, so we’ve got a tipi accommodation planner which you can use if you’re keen to do this, or a venue map showing you individual tipi locations if you just want to get the lay of the land.

However our best advice would be to let your guests book their own tipi size & position; as it may be that they’ve got their own reasons for wanting a particular spot which can make it a bit awkward if you put them somewhere else. All your guests of course get our wedding guest discount, which varies according to the time of year you’ve booked your wedding (20% off overall booking price in March & October, 15% in April, 10% in May, June & early July, & 5% in July, August & September).

Depending on the size of the wedding there are usually some people for whom tipi camping either isn’t appropriate, or just doesn’t appeal. Maybe older family members, or perhaps someone who just prefers full voltage for hair tongs & straighteners.

If you need more accommodation ideas we can of course help with everything from hotel to b+b’s, holiday cottages to pubs nearby.

We’re also happy to take a limited amount of ‘normal’ campers in our big meadow or on certain parts of the site; this can be anything from 2 man tents to camper vans, Bell tents to caravans and works really well for anybody who’s keen to give their own much loved camping kit an airing or feels that this is more viable for them in any other way.

Our Venue

The site is unique. A woodland valley folded around a clear, spring-fed lake created from the old Tregildrans Quarry. Our tipis are dotted about this secret 16 acres clothed in ferns and bluebells, oak and meadowsweet. Undisturbed by modern agrochemicals and herbicides the natural ecosystem has flourished, providing a thriving habitat for flowers and butterflies, birds and mammals.

It's a place a world apart from the rush and clutter of the modern holiday experience, with an atmosphere that makes you forget the world outside, and just lounge, ramble, or potter about in a boat.

"The band was fantastic, the company even better and we finished it off sleeping in a tipi and waking to a fantastic day of fishing and swimming in the lake."

Ceremony & Reception

Walk down a light dappled path past mossy Sherwood trunks, through a little meadow of tipis then over a  stream & down to our pavilion of wood, willow & canvas. It’s bordered on 2 sides by the  stream & under a great ash tree..

Lake & Woods

Wander across the stream over little wooden bridges to a wooded dingly dell, brilliant blue with bells in April/May and a palette of greens the rest of the season. This is where we can hang Chinese lanterns & bunting for really pretty..
