ceremony & reception

Walk down a light dappled path past mossy Sherwood trunks, through a little meadow of tipis then over a stream & down to our pavilion of wood, willow & canvas. It’s bordered on 2 sides by the stream & under a great ash tree. There’s daisies and buttercups, pink campions, meadowsweet and white lace rounds of cow parsley. Hazel, willow and oak are watched by the elder, guardian of the woods. Giant ferns and hart’s tongue give a feel of another time, another place.

Inside the pavilion you can seat 50 guests in comfort, plus the Registrars’ table with the requisite 2 chairs behind it (2 Registrars are the legal requirement for your marriage). Big clear windows are stitched into the canvas which roll up nicely in sunny weather letting in the sounds of water & birdsong. Big beams & cross members in the roof are perfect for decoration, whether a simple strand of plain white wedding bunting, wild ivy twisted around or a more elaborate florist’s arrangement.

Curving around the outside is wooden decking, with plenty of room for at least another 50 chairs, seats for musicians, perhaps a full size piano or harp. We’ve got 100 turquoise & gilt wedding chairs which you can use, or you can hire in something different if you prefer. Hay bales with coloured rugs look lovely on the grass by the decking for bigger guest numbers.

One thing worth pointing out here is that we do always make provision for anyone with mobility issues (or just really high Jimmy Choo’s) & provide a car & a driver (usually our family car with the husband driving) to take them to and from the relevant areas according to your wedding timetable.

Opposite the pavilion sits our biggest tipi, the Grand Lodge – a great focal point for any event, & a perfect tented space for everything from the wedding breakfast for a smaller wedding, to a place to lay out drinks & snacks, or for a bigger wedding a really useful space for something like a crèche during and after the ceremony for babies and small children.

It's in this lovely glade that we can put up either one or two of our pop up pavilion tents (with or without sides) which are excellent as champagne or cocktail tents, for putting out canapés, children’s food and drink etc. If your wedding is going to be smaller and you’re thinking of doing your own catering, they make great BBQ tents.

You can hold your reception in either our big Moroccan marquee (30x60ft, 9x18m) which will seat up to 150 or 110 with room for dancing, or our smaller Capri tent (28x38ft, 8.5x11.5m) which will seat a maximum of 80 people or around 60 with room for dancing. Either of these tented spaces can be decorated by you, by us, or by a professional set dresser depending on your taste & budget. If you want a different reception space put up at our venue do look at our preferred marquee hire specialists.

“It was truly a ‘once in a lifetime’ day which I am sure will stay in their memory for ever – what more could the parents of the bride ask for?”

Our Venue

The site is unique. A woodland valley folded around a clear, spring-fed lake created from the old Tregildrans Quarry. Our tipis are dotted about this secret 16 acres clothed in ferns and bluebells, oak and meadowsweet. Undisturbed by modern agrochemicals and herbicides the natural ecosystem has flourished, providing a thriving habitat for flowers and butterflies, birds and mammals.

It's a place a world apart from the rush and clutter of the modern holiday experience, with an atmosphere that makes you forget the world outside, and just lounge, ramble, or potter about in a boat.

"The band was fantastic, the company even better and we finished it off sleeping in a tipi and waking to a fantastic day of fishing and swimming in the lake."
