hens and honeymoons

One thing we do know about you is that you want to have fun on your hen weekend, as well as a bit of stress free down time – the lull before the storm as one hen described it. Apart from a beautiful place to wind down and chill out with your friends you can do as much or as little as you like. Really simple pleasures like marshmallows round the campfire (with a few glasses of wine of course), or down at the lake, swim out to the floating pontoons & sunbathe like a seal while buzzards glide the air currents above you.

We get very active hens & very relaxed hens; depending which camp you’re in, we can arrange everything from massage & healing sessions, to willow lantern workshops, fantastic individually tailored jewellery workshops using found & recycled items, to ocean kayaking, coasteering (scrambling up & jumping off cliffs into the deep blue sea) professional tree climbing sessions, surfing lessons or speedboat trips.

We will take stags – very occasionally – but only if they promise on Scout’s Honour to be seriously good boys. Obviously we know hens can be naughty too, but we only ever seem to get the nice ones.

Honeymoons – well what can we say? Honeymooners have been coming to us for 15 years – and then back for their wedding anniversaries, often in their favourite tipi! If you want to really escape from it all then honeymooning in a tipi in your own private clearing maybe looking down on the lake or in the woods beside a tiny stream has to be near the top of the list for romance and privacy.

We all know what a honeymoon should be about; time to just be with your beloved, with all the stress and planning and tiny details leading up to the wedding just fading away, and you both left with the fantastic memories of the day and the novelty of waking up together formally hitched.

It’s a really magical time, and we like to think we give you the space and peace to enjoy every moment.

ceremony and reception

“I just wanted to say thank you for helping with the weekend we spent in the tipis for my sister’s hen party which was so much fun. It is a lovely site and looked splendid in the bursts of sunshine with the bluebells all out and much fun was had by all. My sister still talks wistfully about the dips she took in the lake and the whole relaxing back to nature tipi experience which was just what she was after and has been talking about wanting a return visit with her husband towards the end of the summer”.

Our Venue

The site is unique. A woodland valley folded around a clear, spring-fed lake created from the old Tregildrans Quarry. Our tipis are dotted about this secret 16 acres clothed in ferns and bluebells, oak and meadowsweet. Undisturbed by modern agrochemicals and herbicides the natural ecosystem has flourished, providing a thriving habitat for flowers and butterflies, birds and mammals.

It's a place a world apart from the rush and clutter of the modern holiday experience, with an atmosphere that makes you forget the world outside, and just lounge, ramble, or potter about in a boat.

"The band was fantastic, the company even better and we finished it off sleeping in a tipi and waking to a fantastic day of fishing and swimming in the lake."

Ceremony & Reception

Walk down a light dappled path past mossy Sherwood trunks, through a little meadow of tipis then over a  stream & down to our pavilion of wood, willow & canvas. It’s bordered on 2 sides by the  stream & under a great ash tree..

Lake & Woods

Wander across the stream over little wooden bridges to a wooded dingly dell, brilliant blue with bells in April/May and a palette of greens the rest of the season. This is where we can hang Chinese lanterns & bunting for really pretty..

Accomodation

The great thing about getting married with us is that you’ve got loads of potential accommodation for your friends and family, meaning that everyone can enjoy a longer or shorter weekend with you, but without the stress of lengthy accommodation...
