registrars

Confirmation that the Registrars are available for the chosen date & time is crucial, so you need to contact our local office:

Bodmin Registrar 66 St Nicholas St Bodmin Cornwall PL31 1AG

t: 0300 1234181

e: bodminregistrars@cornwall.gov.uk

(they're usually open Mon-Fri 9am-2pm, but it’s not always easy to get someone so we suggest emailing them straight away...)

For all the legal bits and technicalities in advance of the wedding and at the booking stage you must contact them direct as we’re not empowered to give out the rules and regs – and they can be a bit more complicated than you might think. We’ve got wonderful local Registrars with years of experience who will answer all your questions and guide you through the process. Their fees are also quite separate from ours – currently running at about £400 for marriage at an approved venue like ours.

If you live abroad or one of you is a non-UK citizen the rules are different; a little complicated & quite strict. The period of residency required for the formal notice of marriage to be given is crucial & we’ve had couples living in Australia whose plans foundered due to the residency rules. This doesn’t mean it’s difficult to arrange; just that a bit more planning is needed to comply with everything – if you don’t, the marriage isn’t legal which rather takes the gilt off the gingerbread.

“It was truly a ‘once in a lifetime’ day which I am sure will stay in their memory for ever – what more could the parents of the bride ask for?”

Our Venue

The site is unique. A woodland valley folded around a clear, spring-fed lake created from the old Tregildrans Quarry. Our tipis are dotted about this secret 16 acres clothed in ferns and bluebells, oak and meadowsweet. Undisturbed by modern agrochemicals and herbicides the natural ecosystem has flourished, providing a thriving habitat for flowers and butterflies, birds and mammals.

It's a place a world apart from the rush and clutter of the modern holiday experience, with an atmosphere that makes you forget the world outside, and just lounge, ramble, or potter about in a boat.

"The band was fantastic, the company even better and we finished it off sleeping in a tipi and waking to a fantastic day of fishing and swimming in the lake."

Ceremony & Reception

Walk down a light dappled path past mossy Sherwood trunks, through a little meadow of tipis then over a  stream & down to our pavilion of wood, willow & canvas. It’s bordered on 2 sides by the  stream & under a great ash tree..

Lake & Woods

Wander across the stream over little wooden bridges to a wooded dingly dell, brilliant blue with bells in April/May and a palette of greens the rest of the season. This is where we can hang Chinese lanterns & bunting for really pretty..

Accomodation

The great thing about getting married with us is that you’ve got loads of potential accommodation for your friends and family, meaning that everyone can enjoy a longer or shorter weekend with you, but without the stress of lengthy accommodation...
